Your liver is the major organ of detoxification. Yet, it is just not nurtured enough. It does a heavy job all the time. When it comes to supporting liver detox with food and lifestyle, there is so much you can do, starting with incuding this gorgeous cauliflower curry into your diet.

Who doesn’t love a great Indian curry. Yet, as you will find me saying again and again, it is important that therapeutic cooking for health is both flavourful and simple. As a working woman and a mother, I do not have the time for elaborate cooking. But, I want everyone to be healthy and eat what their body needs.

You might be wondering why cauliflower. I know that many of you avoid eating cauliflower for a variety of reasons. This might be because you feel pesticides are high. This is mostly true but you can find some sources which are not. You might be avoiding it thinking that it’s bad for thyroid health. This is not quite true, unless you are eating huge amounts of it.

Cauliflower curry is delicious! This one is super quick and can be a great accompaniment for meats, lentils, fish and anything else. The great benefit is that you will help your liver detox! Your liver is overworked most of the time today.

The reason for this is that it is detoxifying all the toxins and chemicals from all around. This is a tough job! Show your liver some love by eating the right way, reducing your exposure to toxins and getting good sleep!

As you keep seeing all my recipes, I have three stars of the show, in this case, it’s cauliflower, turmeric and coriander. Remember my mantra, which is enjoy food from concept to creation to consumption! You really want to bring your awareness. Intention matters. If you think that you need a liver detox, try this cauliflower curry, loaded with brilliant spices.

Let’s breakdown the ingredients of this cauliflower curry before going into it:

Cauliflower– The sulforaphane in cauliflower helps liver detox. It also contains choline, which is a liver detox nutrient. It is rich in B vitamins, which again are required for the same purpose.

It is a low carb vegetable which is why it is a great option as a grain replacement, and rich in fibre too. Some people may find themselves bloating, but that usually means that they need some healing. Cauliflower actually has so many benefits

Turmeric–Curcumin in turmeric is another potent liver detox nutrient. It is anti-inflammatory and rich in antioxidants. Turmeric contains bioactive compounds that have immense medicinal properties. Beyond all the benefits, it makes everything look gorgeous!

Coriander–Coriander has natural chelating properties. It binds with toxins and heavy metals and allows your liver to exctrete it out of the body. It contains magnesium, niacin, calcium, phosphorus, potassium, thiamine and betacarotene. Many of the B vitamins also support liver detox!

Gorgeous Cauliflower Curry For Liver Detox

This gorgeous cauliflower curry contains three powerful liver detox ingredients along with a load of fresh spices. It is super simple to make and is wonderfully flavouful!

Course Accompaniment, Side Dish, Vegetables
Cuisine Indian
Servings 2 people


  • Heavy bottomed pan
  • Stove


  • 1 organic Cauliflower
  • 1 large Onion
  • 2 tbsp Ghee or Sesame Oil Little more if required
  • 1 Green Chilly
  • 1/2 tsp Turmeric Powder
  • 1 tsp Chilly Powder Reduce if you want it mild spice
  • 1 tbsp Coriander Powder
  • 1 tsp Cumin Powder
  • 1 tsp Curry Powder
  • 2 Ripe Red Tomatoes
  • 1/4 cup Coriander Leaves
  • Salt


  • Chop the cauliflower into medium sized florets and set aside. Chop the onions fine and set aside. Blanch the tomatoes in hot water, peel and paste. Set aside.
  • In a hot pan, add the ghee or oil. Saute the onions lightly and add the cauliflower. Cover and cook on low heat for ten minutes. Check that the cualiflower is lightly browned. Remove into a bowl and set aside.
  • Wash the pan. Add a little more ghee or oil. Keep the heat high. Add the tomato paste and let is bubble for a few minutes. Add all the spices and saute for one minute until the oil gently seeps out. Keep the heat high. Add back the cauliflower and onions and toss on high heat until lightly brown. Add the fresh coriander leaves and salt and serve hot.


Optional add ons are some tofu, boiled green peas, red carrots and sweet potatoes

Fasting is great! But I’m seeing a lot of people who are unable to get benefits from this ancient practice. My guess is that this has a lot to do with sequence, present diet, level of stress and what’s happening within their body.⁣


Some of the indications that the specific fasting approach you are following is not working for you are:⁣

💙Feeling more stressed and having poor resilience to stressors around you. This can include feeling weepy, angry or overwhelmed.⁣

💙Struggling with fatigue and forcing yourself to get through the fasting period irrespective of tiredness, dizziness or giddy.⁣

💙One of the greatest signs of impact is struggling with sleep. This can include inability to stay asleep and not being able to stay asleep for enough time.⁣

💙Not getting a period when you have always had a perfect cycle is a huge red flag. If your body thinks that it’s a state of emergency it shuts off reproductive function and you can miss ovulation and menstruation. I’ve actually heard women say they are happy about missing a cycle but this is really dangerous!⁣


Does this mean fasting is not good? Far from it! I call the fasting approach that I use in practice as Strategic Fasting. This refers to using fasting techniques in specific ways at specific times with specific foods in the feeding window. It can be immensely therapeutic provided you bring it in correctly. ⁣

It’s so strange that so many women do not place stress as the greatest root cause of all their menstruated challenges. One episode of high stress can wreak havoc on your hormones and impact the flow of your cycle. This is why you’ll have an early period, a later period, no period or a heavy period after you’ve had an argument with someone or a bad day at work.⁣


🌸The reason for this is that your body takes cholesterol and produces both cortisol which is the stress hormone and progesterone which is your sex hormone. ⁣

🌺When your body thinks that it is a state of emergency then it shuts off non essential functions including the production of sex hormones. ⁣

🌸Instead it prioritises the production of your stress hormone cortisol. ⁣

🌺This means you can go a whole cycle without ovulation or making progesterone.⁣

🌸This makes you stressed, anxious, unable to sleep, overwhelmed, depressed and a whole lot more!⁣
